Sudah gaharu cendana pula

There is nothing about the title. It's just a malay old saying which means you are asking a question that you pretending not knowing the answer or in short a Feigning Ignorance.

Last Tuesday 19/7/2007, after a futsal exercise, a friend were suggesting to venture an opportunity in agriculture field - to plan Sandalwood or Gaharu in Malay. This has been a second time I heard this invitation, meaning it is no longer a new thing to many. Not much that I've heard about this tree besides in the Malay saying learnt in secondary school. Sandalwood is a valuable fragrant wood of trees in the genus Santalum. Species of this tree are found in Nepal, southern India, Sri Lanka, Hawaii, South Pacific islands and Australia. Its commercial values is not just as fragrance in perfume and incense. Sandalwood doesn't just smell nice. Scientific research has shown that the oil has soothing and anti-bacterial properties on the skin. It is added to hair oils and body lotions.

Giving a proper guidance and capital, this is a long term oppurtunity to venture a new potential field. And also an escape route of switching my boring career being a computer programmer. Nevertheless, I foresee IT is still useful mechanism to be applied in agriculture especially to market the products locally and globally. So anyone interested to join as partner?

When The Children Cry..

(dedicated to my sweet child, Sara Falisya [the gift of happiness as in Arabic meaning])

Little child dry your crying eyes..
How can I explain the fear you feel inside..
Cause you were born into this evil world..
Where man is killing man and no one knows just why..
What have we become just look what we have done..
All that we destroyed you must build again..

When the children cry let them know we tried..
Cause when the children sing then the new world begins..

Little child you must show the way..
To a better day for all the young..
Cause you were born for all the world to see..
That we all can live with love and peace..
No more presidents and all the wars will end..
One united world under God..

What have we become just look what we have done..
All that we destroyed you must build again..
No more presidents and all the wars will end..
One united world under God..

When the children cry let them know we tried..
When the children fight let them know it ain't right..
When the children pray let them know the way..
Cause when the children sing then the new world begins..

Amsterdam is often referred to as one of the most colorful cities in the world. And rightly so! Where else do you find so many places of interest, famous museums, sceneries, naughty shops, flower markets? And to make it more wonderful experience is to celebrate birthday by going sailing, having dinner on a floating chinese restaurant and cruising red light district ;)

Konsert Pesta Malam Indonesia

Saturday 15 April 2006 – A marathon of concert performed by Indonesian artists had been held at Stadium Merdeka, KL from 3pm to 12m/nite. Not knowing this is actually an 8 hours concert I was called to join my sister in laws to this concert, thinking the most it might drag is 3 hours so then I can go home to ease my stress muscle while watching football at my cozy house. As we arrived at Stadium Merdeka around 4pm, I was a bit shocked to see there are actually thousands of Indons, men and ladies appearing in heavy metal look. Called it a Pesta Malam Indonesia (Indonesia Night Fest), it is not just only a concert, it is also a fiesta to bump to the front row, fiesta to run amok safety fence and also fiesta to be chased by security personnel.

Ada Band, the less famous band was the first performer. I recalled his vocalist was expressing they were a bit unfortunate to always being the warm-up performer in every show in Malaysia. Then came the new talented band known as Ungu with their famous song Demi Waktu. Cokelat were next followed by Gigi in a fast tempo and Padi with their hit song Menanti Sebuah Jawapan, to make this fiesta go wild. Rossa was next in duet with Padi with Kasih Tak Sampai song before suddenly heavy rain start falling. The concert was held for about an hour and a half due to this heavy rain, leaving few hundreds hard core fans at the front of the stage while thousands ran to look for shelter.

Finally the main performer, the long awaiting Dewa 19 turned up at about 9:30pm singing 20 songs including Separuh Nafas, Pupus and Laskar Cinta. The combination of two vocalist Once with his high pitch vocal and Dhani with his bass sound vocal is the uniqueness of this band where others just could not match. 15000 crowds were entertained by Dewa’s two thumbs up performance which also featuring Ratu and their ex-vocalist, Ari Lasso.

Milimetres away from death

Last night at 1.30am i almost got robbed at esso petrol station, selayang. i was on my way back from sending a friend there before stopping at esso to go to toilet & buy a refreshing can drink as my head was a bit sleepy. back from the counter, approaching my car parked in front of the toilet, suddenly an indian boy aprroached me asking a blur question. then came a malay boy in a split second trying to grab my neck. luckily in a spontaneous response, i managed to kicked him away and shouted for help before they ran away. then came 2 public people nearby come to help as the robbers have already fled away... then only they realised my neck was bleeding about an inch long cut... i didnt notice that the robber actually has a knife in his hand as the surrounding was quite dark.. otherwise i might surrender to them... thanks God nothin worse happened.. it took me a while to realise that actually i was just milimeters away from death should the knife cut deeper... those boy are just about 17 years old... looks like amateurs... but never underestimate the harm they could cause... so u guys be extra careful where ever u are... as being reminded in the chain emails which i certainly will delete them, u never know that it can happen to u.. that's all folks...

As the world turns..

Very interesting 'analysis'. Whilst we don't know how accurate these figures are, I think they are probably quite close to real. From the fact '1 would have a college education ' , we are most likely in the top 1% of the world population and quite possibly even higher. :)

If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following:

There would be:
57 Asians, 21 Europeans 14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south
8 would be Africans
52 would be female, 48 would be male
30 would be white, 70 would be non-white
70 would be non-Christian, 30 would be Christian
89 would be heterosexual, 11 would be homosexual
6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth and all 6 would be from the USA.
80 would live in substandard housing
70 would be unable to read, 50 would suffer from malnutrition
1 would be near death, 1 would be near birth
1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education
1 (yes, only1) would own computer.

When one considers our world from such a compressed perspective,we realize the need for acceptance, understanding and education. And, therefore...If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If you can attend a religious meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world. If you can read this message you are more blessed than the over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all. As you read this and are reminded how life is in the rest of the world, remember just how blessed you really are! Wishing all wonderful days ahead.

Fasting and Health Care

Source: The Essentials of Ramadan, the Fasting Month by Tajuddin Shu'ab

The benefits of fasting transcend guiding the faster from idle talk and indecent acts. It is a sentinel against disease, providing the faster follows the strict dietary rule: eat during fast-breaking and avoiding over-eating. Allah (SWT) states: "...Eat and drink, but waste not by excess, for Allah loves not wasters." (7:31)

A great deal of ailments originate from stomach indigestion. This is why they Messenger of Allah (saw) says: "The son of Adam will never fill a container with something worse and evil than his stomach. It will suffice him some morsels (food) that will keep him on his feet, otherwise, he should divide his stomach into three parts: one third for his food, the other for his drink and the other third for his breath." (Ibn Hibban)

During fast, the system of secretion is organized, and this in turn benefits the blood pressure, inhibiting hardening of the arteries. The heart and kidney functions are enhanced as the work load tapers off. The fast helps to correct the problem of obesity and diabetes. Doctors over the years have used fasting as a prescription for certain ailments.

There was a discussion between Ali bin Husain bin Waquid (raa) and a Christian physician to the Khalifah, Haroon Ar-Rasheed, about Islam's outlook on the science of medicine and health care.

The physician : "There is not in your Book, Al-Quran, anything about medicine. For if Al-Quran is a book of science, what about this science? Aren't there two kinds of sciences: the science of the body and the science of the soul?"

Ibn Waquid : 'Allah, the Most High has combined both sciences in half of a verse, when He states: "...Eat and drink but waste not by excess, for Allah loves not the wasters." (7:31)

The physician : 'Why, then, has nothing been mentioned about medicine from the mouth of your Messenger?'

Ibn Waquid: 'Our Messenger (saw), has combined the sciences about the medicine in a few words when he says: "The stomach is the house for disease and prevention is the essence of medicine."

The physician : 'Then your book, Al-Qur'ân and your Prophet Muhammad left nothing about medicine for Jalienas (a famous physician of the ancients). (Arkanul Arbaah, An-Nadwi, Darul Qlam, Kuwait)

An American physician published a report on fasting and its benefits saying: "It is mandatory on every person who is sick to restrain from food certain days in a year whether he be wealthy or poor because if bacteria can find food in abundance in the body, it will grow and multiply. But with fasting it becomes weak." He then praised Islam. It should be considered as the wisest religion, for as it mandated fasting it has mandated health care. He continued: "Indeed, Muhammad, who brought this religion, was the best physician who succeeded in his teachings, for he called for prevention before ailment, that is apparent in fasting and the nightly prayer (Taraweh) that Muslims observe after fast-breaking every day of Ramadan, for these physical acts contain big benefits in digesting food." (Siyaamuka Ayyuhal Muslim, Abdul 'Aleem Abdur Rahman, Iraq)

Ramadhan : Heat to reshape

Ramadhan is derived from the Arabic root word ramida or ar-ramad denoting intense scorching heat and dryness, especially the ground. From the same root there is ramdaa, sunbaked sand, and the famous proverb: "to jump out of the frying pan into the fire".
And in a hadith the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:
"The prayer of repenters is due when the young camel can feel the sun's heat early in the morning." (Muslim)

Thus, the word Ramadan is so called to indicate the heating sensation in the stomach as a result of thirst. Others said it is so called because Ramadan scorches out the sins with good deeds, as the sun burns the ground. Some said it is so called because the hearts and souls are more readily receptive to the admonition and remembrance of Allah during Ramadan, as the sand and stones are receptive to the sun's heat. The framers of this beautiful language may have been inspired by Allah (SWT) in naming this month Ramadan. Otherwise, the relation between the heat and its properties is miraculously similar to that of Ramadan. While the heat represents the matter that helps shape, form, and mold virtually every matter - from metal and plastics, to plants and living cells - Ramadan undoubtedly helps a serious believer remold, reshape, reform, and renew his physical and spiritual disposition and behavior.
